Help with searching
We hope you find the family services directory easy to use, but realise that sometimes things do not work as well as they should. If you need some help, please see below, or contact the Family Information Service by filling out the feedback form
Searching
There are several ways you can find information on the family service directory.
- Choose an area e.g. parents/carers that best describes the information you are looking for
- A list of categories will then display - choose a category you are interested in by clicking on it
- A list of sub-categories will now display – again click on the one that interests you
- This will take you to a list of services
- Choose a service from the list, which will show you a description of the service and how to get in touch with them.
At any time, you can return to a previous page by using the back button or selecting the link from the breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen.
Quick and easy - simple searches
On most pages you will find a search box in the top right hand corner - simply type one or more keywords into this box and click Search - this will bring up a list of services relevant to you. If these searches bring up too many results, you can narrow your search by using an advanced search.
A-Z list
Alternatively, use the A-Z list from the left hand menu – this will take you to a list of services beginning with the letter you choose. A list of categories starting with the letter will also be displayed, giving you the option to browse further using these.
Help with accessibility – How to increase the text size
Using the keyboard
In many browsers you can increase the text size by using the keyboard and press the keys 'Ctrl' and '+' at the same time.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Go to the 'View menu', select 'Text Size' and then select either 'Larger' or 'Largest'.
Firefox
Go to the 'View menu', select 'Text Size' and then select 'Increase'.
